She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and was elected as the President (2009-2010), Vice-Presdent (2008-2009) and Secretary/Treasurer (2007-2008) of the Charleston Chapter. She is selected for inclusion in the South Carolina Super Lawyers magazine and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. She is a member of the American Association for Justice (President's Club, Professional Malpractice Section and Birth Trauma Litigation Group, former Co-Chair Ethics Committee, State Liaison to Women Trial Lawyers Caucus), the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Bar Foundation, and served on the South Carolina Bar's Task Force on Civil Justice and the South Carolna Task Force on Courts (2006-2007). She also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina from 1985 through 1998. Susan is also a Circuit Court Mediator, certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Active in civic affairs, Susan was the year 2000 Chairperson for the Komen Charleston Race for the Cure, an affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and served on its board for many years. Susan also serves or has served on the boards of directors of the Hollings Cancer Center, Pro Bono Legal Services, Inc., the Charleston Civic Ballet, the Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of Girl Scouts of America, Inc., My Sister's House, Inc., Charleston Theatreworks, and Charleston Neighborhood Legal Assistance, Inc.

Susan cares about her clients and works hard to bring them justice. She has represented numerous people in medical malpractice claims and won one of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in the state. Her prosecution of a civil murder case in a federal court in Atlanta gained national attention in 1994 and was reported on national television. She has represented clients in a variety of matters including wrongful death claims, auto and trucking accidents, unfair trade practices, products liability claims, medical malpractice claims, commercial disputes, employment suits, and personal injury claims.

Mark C. Fava is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP practicing aviation law and land use matters. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Fava served as an elected member of his local municipality’s government until he relocated to Atlanta for three years where he worked as the chief operations attorney for Delta Air Lines, Inc., during and after 9/11. Mr. Fava’s broad aviation practice includes litigation and regulatory law. Admitted to practice in Washington, DC, he represents aviation clients in matters involving the Department of Transportation, the FAA, the TSA, and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Currently, his clients include air taxis, air carriers, aircraft manufacturers, fixed based operators, and fractional ownership organizations. He serves as the general counsel of the Atlanta-based Air Taxi Association and is the leader of Nelson Mullins' Southeastern Aviation Law Practice Group.

In his land use practice, Mr. Fava handles complex zoning matters. He has successfully represented national clients before planning commissions, elected bodies, and architectural review boards. His practice includes representing developers in negotiations of detailed development agreements with municipalities. Further, utilizing his extensive aviation experience, he has specifically advised clients in airport development and zoning matters.

Mr. Fava holds the rank of captain in the United States Navy Reserve. He has accumulated more than 3300 flight hours as a Naval Flight Officer in the P-3 Orion and is the former commanding officer of a Navy aviation squadron in Jacksonville, Fla. He now serves as the commanding officer of the Navy Reserve Unit of the Navy Inspector General in Washington, DC.

Mr. Fava is an elected member of the Governing Committee of the ABA’s Forum on Air & Space Law. Mr. Fava taught Legal Writing and Oral Advocacy at the Charleston School of Law from 2004 to 2006 and has taught Aviation Law as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law since 2006.

Guy J. Vitetta, originally from Philadelphia, PA, graduated from Ohio's Kenyon College with a B.A. in history and religion. As a community activist addressing consumer and environmental issues, Guy realized his most influential avenue for making a difference in the community was in the practice of law. He graduated from Capital University Law School in Columbus, OH in 1991. Clerking in the Death Penalty Section of the Ohio Public Defender Commission, Mr. Vitetta worked on appeals for Death Row inmates. For the next eleven years, he served as a Public Defender in Columbus, then in Charleston County, SC, before opening his private practice in Charleston, South Carolina.

Guy continues to hold an AV® Peer Rating, the highest given by Martindale-Hubbell, which was awarded in 2005.

He is also a Certified Family Court Mediator in South Carolina and co-founder of the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston.
