John David Drake is an experienced trial attorney. John is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Law School. He served 5 years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. There he gained significant general legal and trial practice. Since 1992 he has provided litigation services to the people of Murfreesboro, Rutherford and surrounding counties. His areas of practice include: DUI, Criminal Law, Divorce and Child Custody, Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana University in 1979, I moved to Dallas to attend law school. I obtained my law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1982. I was in private practice until I joined the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office in 1985. I was assigned to the newly formed juvenile division in 1988, becoming the supervising attorney in 1995, and remained there until 2008 when I returned to private practice. The focus of my practice remains juvenile law.

Born in raised in St. Louis, Missouri, I made my way to Iowa in 2009 to attend Drake University. I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Law, Politics and Society in 2012 and went on to attend Drake University Law School and graduated in 2016. I sat for and passed the Iowa Bar Exam in September 2016 and moved to Cedar Rapids shortly after to begin working for Viner Law Firm. In November 2019, I became a shareholder in the firm.
