After receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana University in 1979, I moved to Dallas to attend law school. I obtained my law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1982.
I was in private practice until I joined the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office in 1985. I was assigned to the newly formed juvenile division in 1988, becoming the supervising attorney in 1995, and remained there until 2008 when I returned to private practice. The focus of my practice remains juvenile law.
