I live and work in Simi Valley and have been practicing here for the past decade.

I love practicing law in Simi Valley and providing my community with personal, attentive, and experienced legal services, with integrity and effective advocacy.

In 2006 I started my own practice in Simi Valley, and my practice now serves all of Ventura County and parts of Los Angeles County. My areas of practice include a range of civil litigation including real property and business disputes. I also have an extensive estate planning practice including trusts, wills, powers of attorneys, health care directives, etc. My practice also includes guardianship petitions and other kinds of civil disputes.

Prior to law school, I worked in the public service sector from 1987 to 1994, first in a U.S. Congressional office, and thereafter as community outreach coordinator for the City of Los Angeles, Environmental Affairs Department.

I graduated from Southwestern University, magna cum laude, in 1997.

In 1997, I joined the firm of Lynberg & Watkins in downtown Los Angeles. There, I worked on complex multimillion dollar environmental insurance litigation cases.

I wanted to work in my community of Ventura County and also serve the public interest and so in 1998, I joined the Ventura County District Attorney's office as a Deputy District Attorney, prosecuting a range of cases in which I gained valuable and substantial courtroom experience, including prosecuting a multitude of jury trials. As a Deputy District Attorney, I was called to prepare witness testimony and other evidence through which I sharpened my communication and advocacy abilities that have continued to serve me well even as I transitioned to civil practice in late 1999. From that time I have practiced in Simi Valley continually.

In late 1999, I joined the Law Offices of William J. Waters in Simi Valley. There, I worked independently on a range of civil cases including business litigation, real property, neighbor disputes, family law, bankruptcy, medical malpractice, and estate planning. I also conducted all of the firm's trials and also all cases that went to the appellate court.

Alan M. Insul is an AV rated attorney limiting practice to corporate, business and real estate. Mr. Insul Graduated UCLA in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, and he received his J.D. degree in 1978 from Southwestern University School of Law. Mr. Insul was admitted in 1978 to both the California and Federal Court (Central District). Professionally Mr. Insul limits his practice to the areas of corporate, real estate, and business law for transactional matters as well as litigation. In real estate, he has extensive experience ranging from lending and acquisition transactions to real estate litigation. In business and corporate law, Mr. Insul has advised start-ups, emerging enterprises, established companies as well as troubled businesses seeking to avoid bankruptcy. Mr. Insul litigation experience extends to appellate matters including published opinions. Foothill Village Homeowners Assn. V. Bishop (1999) 68 Cal. App. 4th 1364; Countrywide Home Loans, Inc. In the late 1980's Mr. Insul became CEO to a California based telecommunications company with multiple offices. He has also acted as CEO to an international data network company in the mid-90's.
