True Professional I was introduced to Hunter Garnett by a co-worker in reference to an ongoing class action lawsuit. Hunter carefully walked me through the claims process and ensured that my information was appropriately submitted. Hunter’s knowledge of law (educated me on certain topics), realistic assessment, attention to detail and diligence with requesting the appropriate information from me ensured the successful addition to the class action. I will utilize Hunter again if requires legal assistance. True professional.

He's my hero! Hunter came to my rescue after an auto accident where I sustained a traumatic brain injury. While working through the case, he showed compassion and patience during each conversation, worked tirelessly through the details, and provided guidance with great integrity. He made sure the case closed with my greater good in mind. Now, 3 1/2 years after healing has occurred, I look back and marvel even more at how well he served me when I would not have known otherwise.

Biography

I grew up as the oldest of seven children on family’s farm in Danville, Alabama in Morgan County. On the farm, I learned the importance of hard work. Somewhere along the way, I also learned that I love to help people. That's why I am a lawyer today. I love to help.

I'm married to a wonderful woman from Hartselle, Alabama. We were married in 2015 while I attended law school. Hannah is a dermatology CRNP in Huntsville.

I went to college at Mississippi State and law school at Samford. I worked hard to earn good grades and graduated law school at the top of my class with honors. I was also very involved in countless clubs in college and law school while also working part-time. I was elected to quite a few leadership roles, such as president of my fraternity at MSU, representative and treasurer of the student bar association in law school, a member of the mock trial team in law school, and a bunch of agricultural organizations like FFA, Ag Econ Club, etc.

After law school, I worked for a law firm in Huntsville, Alabama for four and a half years where I represented victims of bad accidents. In December of 2021, I started my own law firm where I represent folks who are being mistreated by insurance companies.

In my free time, I ride horses and spend time outside on my mini farm. I also play a lot of pickup basketball to stay in shape.

Helping people is my passion in life. I wake up every morning excited to go to work because I get to help folks.

Q. My neighbors have a lot of cows and they are out all the time. So i hit one so I am responsible?
A: Generally, farmers aren’t liable for personal injuries caused when their cows get out if they have proper fencing. However, there are occasionally exceptions. You should contact a lawyer, especially if you have serious personal injuries.

Here’s the statutes on this issue:

Ala Code 3-4-6

If any trespass or damage is done by any animal breaking into lands not enclosed by a lawful fence as defined in this chapter, the owner shall not be liable therefor.

Ala Code 3-4-3

A fence made of three or more wires securely fastened to trees or posts not more than eight feet apart, the wires being not more than 15 inches apart and the top wire at least four feet from the ground, shall be a lawful fence so far as concerns equine or equidae and cattle. ... Read More
Q. Can I fire my lawyer and negotiate on my own ?
A: You’re entitled to terminate your lawyer at any time. However, the lawyer will likely be entitled to a lien for his attorney’s fee.

You can negotiate your own settlement. However, your healthcare providers and/or health insurer have a right to be paid back out of your settlement funds. In fact, the auto insurance companies likely won’t settle your case unless they’re permitted to pay your medical providers and health insurer directly. You can negotiate with the medical providers and health insurers yourself as well.

Lastly, if you have underinsured motorist coverage then there is a process for making a no fault claim on your own auto insurance. This process can be tricky.

It is typically best to have a lawyer who handles these processes for you. You are entitled to change lawyers at any time if you’re unhappy with your current representation. ... Read More
Q. Why won't my lawyer tell me what my case is worth so I know if I even want him as a lawyer ?
A: It sounds like you have serious injuries. The value of your case may depend on the amount of insurance that is available. Over half of drivers in Alabama have no insurance or the bare minimum of $25,000.

Your lawyer is correct that it’s impossible to know the value of a personal injury case early on. First, the lawyer needs to know the extent of your injuries, whether you will need surgery, whether you will make a full recovery, and also how much insurance is available.

If you have concerns, you should tell your lawyer about the concerns. You can always seek a second opinion or find a new lawyer. However, your current attorney may be entitled to an attorney’s lien, so making a decision sooner than later may be wise. ... Read More
