Allen was born and raised just outside of Charlotte in Denver, NC. From his rural roots he was able to win the prestigious Morehead Scholarship to pay his way through UNC in Chapel Hill. He was also awarded induction into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society. He serves as a trustee with the thriving Mecklenburg Community Church, volunteering at the Mountain Island Lake campus. He loves spending time with his wife, Lynn, and their sons, Haynes and Gray.
