Alan was a certified and registered baseball umpire, a basketball official and football official for more than three decades. He began officiating with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) in 1968, while attending Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His officiating continued in New Jersey while he attended Rutgers University School of Law in Camden. He continued to officiate all three sports for many years thereafter. He has officiated many state tournament games, as well as college basketball, working most recently in the Northeast Conference.

Immigration law today is different than in 1986. More cases are denied, more marriages questioned, more proof required for any case. I look at each case to find the problems that may be found by the agency or the court, and work to correct or explain them before they become an unhappy surprise denial or, worse, removal order.
