Ben earned his law degree at the University of Kentucky in 1992. He earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas, where he graduated with honors in 1987.

Cyndi graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1992, where she was an editor of the Kentucky Law Journal. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky in 1988. Cyndi was the President of the University of Kentucky Student Government in 1987 and served as the student member of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.
