Seth M. Goldberg attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where he graduated and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1987. He also completed ROTC and was commissioned a Reserve Officer in 1985. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of La Verne in 1991.
