- Mr. Rana previously oversaw mergers and acquisitions and securities transactions for Qwest Communications International Inc. and was a transactional lawyer at O’Melveny Myers LLP in New York. While at Qwest, Mr. Rana was instrumental in executing several complex transactions, including Qwest’s acquisitions of US West and LCI Communications; the sale of Qwest’s directories business to The Carlyle Group and Welsh, Carson, Anderson Stowe in one of the largest leveraged buyouts at the time; PIPE transactions involving BellSouth and Microsoft; Qwest’s $13 billion debt exchange offer; and the initial public offering of KPNQwest. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the Qwest Foundation, the charitable arm of the company. Mr. Rana’s prior experience also includes representation of the Anschutz group, TCW and GTE/Verizon.
