Stacey R. Walters
A compassionate attorney driven to help families prepare for the unexpected.
Born and raised in Hillsborough NC, at an early age I found that I l loved helping people. By the age of 16 I was working at Duke Medical Center part-time.
I graduated from Orange County High School, and began attending Elon University to study Biology. My plan was to go to medical school, but after serving on a murder trial at 19, I became enamored with the legal arena and the challenges of representing others.
I graduated Cum Laude from Elon in 1992 and married my high school sweetheart, Roland. While he farmed, I spent my time volunteering with Make-A-Wish foundation. We left the farm for Lansing Michigan, where I attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School. While there I volunteered in the Elder Law Clinic and was a member of the Student Government Association. I worked hard and graduated in the top one-third of my class. After passing the Michigan state bar I worked as a clerk for an amazing judge who taught me all about being a lawyer. In 2005 We left Michigan and I began practicing law in Greensboro, NC at the law firm of Teague, Rotenstreich, Stanaland, Fox & Holt.
I also gave birth to my son Evan in 2005 and my beautiful daughter Shayla in 2008. Shayla was born with a congenital heart defect and her heart stopped at 5 months old. She was left with a brain injury, rendering her disabled. This was a calling for me to focus my practice on helping families prepare for the unexpected.
I left the firm in Greensboro to open my own firm in Mebane, and later joined the Law firm of Rabalais law. In 2016 I left with several of my partners and reorganized our practice to form Thomas-Walters, PLLC.
We are focused on making estate planning and settlement comprehensive, but simple, In order to ensure a family does not suffer through life changes.
In 2018, we unexpectedly lost our daughter Shayla. Nothing will replace a lost loved one, but this has only strengthened our commitment to helping people ensure they find peace of mind before the unexpected occurs.
