While growing up in the small township of Redford, Michigan, I developed aspirations to become a person who helps those in need. I chose to pursue a social work degree from Eastern Michigan University, which is when I first became interested in the law and our justice system. My education and experience in social work taught me that the law is a tool that can be used to effectuate change and help those who need help the most.
After finishing my social work degree, I relocated to North Carolina to attend law school at North Carolina Central University. I was drawn to NCCU School of Law because of the parallels between my social work background and the law school’s motto of truth and service. While in law school, I focused on civil litigation, and interned with Disability Rights North Carolina, an organization that advocates for those living with disabilities. While obtaining my law degree, I also had the opportunity to participate in the Civil Litigation Clinic, as well as work with Judge Lucy Inman at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, visiting with family and friends, testing out the latest pinterest recipes, and trying out new fitness classes.
