I was born in Syria to Iraqi parents and moved to the United States when I was eight years old. Being the first in my family to attend law school, I chose a path that was different from traditional ones while maintaining a connection to my cultural heritage.
My legal career began in legal aid, where I worked to protect vulnerable tenants and promote housing stability in my community. I later shifted my focus to healthcare advocacy, assisting hospitals in securing the funding necessary to provide critical medical services. More recently, my role in document review has helped ensure fairness and accuracy in legal proceedings. Throughout these positions, I have been committed to advancing justice, advocating for underserved populations, and upholding the integrity of legal systems.
While in law school, I pursued several internships in Detroit that reinforced my dedication to public service and advocacy. At the city’s Civil Rights, Inclusion, and Opportunity Department, I was involved in efforts to promote workplace equity and combat discrimination. My time with the United Community Housing Coalition allowed me to support low-income tenants facing housing insecurity by ensuring they had access to essential legal resources. Serving as a judicial intern for the Wayne County 3rd Circuit Court provided me with insights into the judicial process and the complexities of family law. These experiences solidified my commitment to using the law as a tool for social justice and community empowerment.
Fluent in Arabic, both written and spoken, I grew up in Dearborn, which is home to the largest Arab American population in the U.S. This environment shaped my understanding of the unique challenges faced by immigrant communities. I am passionate about bridging the gap between these communities and the American legal system, and I am now focusing my legal career on immigration law.
