Black Clay LLCMatt was born in Michigan City, Indiana, and is a proud graduate of Michigan City High School. In 2005, Matt graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies. Matt then spent three years as a Deputy Attorney General in the civil litigation section for current Indiana Attorney General, Greg Zoeller. During his time as a Deputy Attorney General, Matt represented many elected and appointed state officials, agencies, and employees in both state and federal court. As a Deputy Attorney General, Matt managed a large and diverse caseload including the following: tax disputes, auto accidents, IOSHA violations, involuntary mental health commitments, civil rights claims, employment discrimination claims, environmental violations, fire and building safety code regulations, and requests for restricted driving privileges under state motor vehicle law. Matt also regularly brought civil enforcement actions against individuals and entities for violations of state securities law. In addition to his years of public service, Matt has also worked in private practice, primarily in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, representing insurance companies and other corporate clients.
