James Townsend is a dynamic attorney and strategic leader with a proven track record of growing and managing successful law practices. His legal acumen made a lasting impact in 2004 when he co-authored a pivotal Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the Colorado Supreme Court, reshaping the legal landscape for grandparent visitation rights in the state.
A graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law, James sharpened his litigation skills as a trial attorney for the Colorado Office of the Public Defender before expanding his practice across multiple legal fields, including civil litigation, criminal defense, estate planning, personal injury, and family law. His strategic mindset and leadership abilities led him to serve as Director of Operations and Chief Operating Officer for two prominent family law and civil litigation firms in Colorado.
Recognized for his contributions to the legal profession, James has authored articles for both the El Paso County and Colorado Bar Associations. In 2017, his dedication and expertise earned him the title of Professional of the Year from the Douglas and Elbert County Bar Association. Beyond the legal realm, he actively engages with his community, serving as an Ambassador for the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce and holding a seat on the Castle Rock Town Council. He currently contributes his expertise as a board member for two private organizations.
James’s global perspective is shaped by his experiences living in Mexico and Brazil. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, he is uniquely positioned to serve a diverse clientele with cultural sensitivity and linguistic fluency.
Outside the office, James balances his driven professional life with creative and personal passions. An enthusiastic guitarist and skateboarder, he embraces both discipline and creativity in all aspects of life. Above all, he treasures time spent with his wife and five children, making family his greatest priority.
