Mr. Allen's clients have included a former Olympic Gold medalist; a former North Carolina Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives; a former North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture; multinational manufacturing, construction and pharmaceutical concerns; major airlines; companies and individuals charged or under investigation in federal and state court; and families of those killed in aviation, automobile and workplace accidents. Among other matters, Mr. Allen defended well-known track-and-field athlete Marion Jones in a multi-jurisdiction federal prosecution that drew international attention.
Mr. Allen has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America®’s Criminal Defense, White Collar Section since 2012, in Business North Carolina's "Legal Elite” Criminal Section since 2004, and in North Carolina Super Lawyers since 2009. Mr. Allen is a North Carolina native. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
