Frederic Schwieg
I am a lawyer with over 25 years experience in bankruptcies, receiverships and out of court debt restructurings. I mostly represent debtors-in-possession and Chapter 7 bankruptcy Trustees in small business (less than $10M total debt) cases. I also specialize in reorganizations for individual debtors who may have personally guaranteed the debts of closely held companies of all sizes.
When working with small companies or individual business owners, fast, efficient and most of all cost-effective representation is essential to a successful restructure. Small businesses often need the help of a workout lawyer, but the cost of representation by a large law firm may be of limited help if the cost of the representation exceeds what the company can afford. I can provide that expertise at a lower cost. As a small business owner myself, I am personally familiar with how small business owners are reluctant to spend for services that do not directly contribute to bottom line performance.
What can make a big difference is a pragmatic approach, one that combines the financial realities that the company faces with its rights and obligations under the Bankruptcy Code or state law. By focusing on both the law and the money, maximum value from any debt restructuring can be achieved.
