Elvis George Yagomba
Mr Yagomba is a UK qualified Barrister (called to the Bar in 2003 at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn), who brought his vast experience from his previous role as the Head of Legal Services of AXA Insurance UK Plc (the UK insurance arm of the AXA Group, the world largest insurance company by net written premiums).
Mr Yagomba spearheaded the expansion of the Legal Services Unit from one employee to a team of 30+ employees (including Barristers, Solicitors, Legal Executives, Paralegals, and Law Graduates), and being regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Within 7 years from a cold start, he was in charge of a legal team with £100 million annual portfolio and an annual £15 million outlay. His team defended 12,000 court cases against AXA every year, and issued 19,000 court proceedings every year – at the time being the highest litigation rates in the entire UK insurance industry.
Mr Yagomba specialises in securing funding for large scale (£10M+) renewable energy and infrastructure projects particularly in Africa. He also advises UK start-up law firms on structures, litigation strategies, and case management systems and operations.
He also conducts pro-bono employment cases for litigants in person with a 100% success rate and hundreds of thousands of pounds in compensation achieved so far for his clients – in the last few years at least one of his probono cases achieved one of the highest disability discrimination compensation amounts in the UK for that year, and winning a landmark ruling at the UK Employment Appeal Tribunal – (1) First Greater Western Ltd (2) Mr J Linley v Miss R Waiyego: UKEAT/0056/18/RN – GOV.UK
