Biography

Bob Bollinger knows how to solve workers' compensation problems. Bob's philosophy of representing his clients is quite simple--his client's best interests always come first. If settling your case makes sense, then he will negotiate the best possible settlement. If going to court makes the most sense for you, then he will take it to court! Bob knows that the most effective tool a lawyer has --- going to court --- is sometimes needed in order to solve his client's problems, and unlike some lawyers, he is not afraid of a courtroom. He is always willing to take the insurance company to court and force it to "do right" when necessary. Bob has a publicly accessible track record of litigation of workers' compensation claims that shows he knows how to effectively represent his clients at the courthouse. You can access his case decisions using the LiveLink searchable database on the web site of the NC Industrial Commission, www.nc.ic.gov. In fact, before hiring any lawyer for your workers' compensation case in North Carolina, you should use that web site to investigate a lawyer's litigation experience and read the actual case decisions he or she has handled. You only have one case, so choose the best lawyer for it!

Bob Bollinger has represented injured workers in North Carolina since 1991 and has earned a stellar reputation as one of the state's top attorneys for injured workers. He has been a Board Certified Specialist in NC Workers' Compensation Law since November of 2000. Bob holds the highest possible rating from the Martindale-Hubbell attorney peer review rating agency, "AV Preeminent," which puts him in the top 5% of all attorneys rated by that nationwide organization. He was inducted as a "Fellow" in the nationwide College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers. He has been listed every year since 2008 in both the "Best Lawyers in America" and "NC Superlawyers" for his skills as a workers' compensation lawyer on behalf of injured workers.

  • Free Consultation
I provide a free consultation either over the phone, by video conference, or in person for workers' compensation claims. If you need advice on some other kind of legal problem, get in touch-- I will be happy to talk with you for free about it, and refer you to a lawyer I trust who can handle that legal problem for you. We know hundreds of lawyers and are willing to make referrals to lawyers who we know will take good care of our clients and friends.
  • Credit Cards Accepted
Yes, we accept all major credit cards. Many clients use their cards to pay the expenses of the case. Our attorney fees are "contingent" on our obtaining a good outcome for you, and the attorney fees are paid directly to us out of your award or settlement. So the attorney fees are NOT an out-of-pocket expense for you!
  • Contingent Fees
In workers' compensation claims I charge the standard 25% contingent attorney fee. "Contingent" means that the fee is owed only if we obtain benefits for you. If we lose the case, you do not owe us any legal fees. Case expenses that our firm advances on your behalf must be reimbursed by the client.
  • Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
About 95% of our time is spent on workers' compensation cases. We also handle other legal issues that come up for our clients, such as Social Security Disability and motor vehicle accidents. And you can text us anytime, at 704-850-6388! Just include your name on your text, so we know who you are!

Legal Answers
5 Questions Answered
Q. a buddy told me something about NC doing something about workers comp from me being injured in iraq.i am 100% and on SSD
A: If you were a civilian employee in Iraq on a military installation then you probably need to talk to a lawyer who handles “DBA” cases- Defense Base Act. If you were in Iraq for a private corporation and there are some ties to NC, and your job had no direct entanglement with the military, then you might come under the jurisdiction of the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act. More information would be needed from you in order to sort out jurisdiction over your claim. Bob Bollinger
Q. Is it legal to deduct a previously paid PPD rating from a new rating to determine amount of workers comp claim?
A: It depends. Was your previous rating to the “arm” or the “hand?” When the doctor gave you the most recent rating, did he comment (in his office notes) about any previous disability? It is hard to give you a good answer without more information. But one thing is for sure— the insurance company is not required to deal with you in good faith or to treat you fairly. They will use any excuse they can find to underpay you. Contact me next week if you want to discuss it in more depth.
Q. What could Worker's Compensation Lawyers do to better help with Access to Justice?
A: There is no issue with a person getting access to a Workers' Compensation lawyer. Those lawyers work on contingent fees, so there is no up-front cost to engaging one to help with your workers' compensation case.
