Attorney Andrew Bertrand was a Probation Officer with the Drug & Task Force in New York City and later in Golden & Canon City, Colorado. He served 2 years on the Colorado Governors DUI Task Force. After law school he was District Court Prosecutor in New Hampshire and moved to Fort Collins in 1999.

Andrew Bertrand received the 2005 Judge Conrad Ball Award. He was the first defense attorney to be given this honor. The April 13, 2005 Larimer County New Release states in part "He was nominated by the Colorado Public Defender's Office, who compared him with Buzz Lightyear and Mighty Mouse in his enthusiastic dedication seeking justice and helping others. The Public Defender's Office wrote that Bertrand often accepts cases-in-need pro bono, is a skilled mediator, offers personal encouragement and assistance to clients, and a man with a great sense of humor and spirit." Each spring the award is given to a recipient who has significantly contributed toward improving the quality of the criminal justice system in Larimer County.

Andrew was also named Criminal Defense Attorney of the Year by the Consumer Business Review in 2004, 2005, 2007 & 2008
