I was born on May 8, 1959. After various stints running ski lifts at Killington Ski Area, picking apples in Putney, and traveling in Central America, I moved to Burlington, Vermont in 1981. Over the following several years, I taught skiing, flipped pizzas, sold bicycles, and worked as an adolescent and family counselor for a community action agency. I eventually went on to study law, graduating from Vermont Law School, summa cum laude (1st in my class) in 1990.

I graduated from Hobart College, and the North Carolina Central School of Law, where I was on law review. I’ve lived in Vermont since 1995, and have practiced law most of my time here, except for when I’m sugarin’, coachin’, riding my bicycle, or trying to keep my old house from falling down.

Liam maintains a broad practice grounded in all types of real estate matters. Liam’s litigation practice focuses on property law, including disputes involving title and boundary issues, easements, adverse possession and prescriptive easements; public and private road issues; title insurance claims; land use, zoning and Act 250; construction, condemnation and tax appeals. Brian’s practice focuses on Vermont land use, zoning and regulatory matters and resulting appellate litigation, and immigration law. Brian has appeared before numerous municipal zoning and planning boards in Vermont and has practiced before each of the District Environmental Commissions that are responsible for administering Act 250 (Vermont’s statewide land use law). Through the appellate process, Brian has also represented clients before the Vermont Environmental Court, the former Vermont Environmental Board, the Vermont Supreme Court, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

You-Ran Handy is a native of Seoul, South Korea. She obtained her B.A. from the University of Virginia and Juris Doctor degree from Vermont Law School. While in undergraduate and law school, she did various internships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, large business corporations such as Samsung, and law firms in both South Korea and the United States. Upon being admitted to the Vermont Bar, she worked with experienced attorneys in the field of Immigration Law before setting up her own practice as an immigration attorney.
