Roman was formerly a partner at one of Honolulu's largest law firms and has extensive employment litigation experience and trial preparation in both federal and state courts and before federal and state agencies. After working "of counsel" at another large Honolulu firm, Roman started his own office, Law Office of Roman Amaguin.
Roman has counseled, lectured, and trained employers on a wide range of common law and statutory issues. He has extensive knowledge and litigation experience with right to privacy, defamation, emotional distress, breach of contract, assault and battery, and other common law claims.
His experience also includes litigating sexual and other forms of harassment, discrimination, Title VII and Hawaii Employment Practices Statute cases, FLSA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, COBRA, whistleblower, retaliation, and other statutory-based claims. He has defended and prosecuted class action lawsuits.
Roman regularly reviews and drafts non-competition agreements, contracts, separation agreements, and assists in workplace investigations. He also drafts, reviews and revises employer policies, including drug-testing, harassment, privacy, and leave of absence policies.
