Taylor was born and raised in Southern Indiana. He is the second of five children. At the age of five tragedy struck the Ivy household when his father was severely injured in an ATV accident. Because of this traumatic experience, Taylor decided he wanted to help families impacted by injuries the way his was. Growing up on the White River, Taylor spent a lot of his childhood fishing, hunting, and helping his grandparents around the cabin. Mr. Van Dyke was born in Troy, Michigan and moved to Texas in 2001 to complete his undergraduate degree at the University of Dallas (B.A. - Politics - 2003). He matriculated to Stetson University College of Law in January of 2004 and earned his Juris Doctor and a certificate of concentration in advocacy in 2006. He was returned to Texas and was admitted to the bar on February 8, 2007 (having passed the bar examination the summer prior to his graduation from law school).
