Jeffrey Carl Hakanson graduated from Washington and Lee University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He attended the South Texas College of Law, from which he received his Juris Doctorate in 1995. Mr. Hakanson began his legal career at a Tampa real estate firm, where he developed expertise in representing secured lenders in mortgage foreclosure actions, lender liability actions, and bankruptcy cases.
