Grew up in Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia area. Married to childhood sweetheart, Norma Wells Floyd, in 1959 until she died in 2011. Remarried to Martha Tomlin Floyd in 2013. Father dentist, mother housewife,grandfather medical doctor and long time mayor of Phenix City, and four uncles medical doctors or dentists.
