Roya graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 with Bachelor degrees in History and Spanish—in the Honors program. In 2009, she earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Roya was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and returned to her hometown after several years of practicing family law in Austin, Texas. While in law school at the University of Texas, Roya focused her studies on domestic violence and international human rights law.
