John is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2001, John obtained a Masters of Banking and Finance (2002) and his Juris Doctorate (2005) from the University of Alabama.

Upon graduation, John began work in Mobile, Alabama with a large Mobile firm handling general litigation and oil, gas & mineral issues.
