Amanda Jones Johnson grew up in the Bootheel of Missouri. After college in Jonesboro, Arkansas she moved to Seattle, Washington to attend law school in 1999. In a Legal Writing class her second year she met her future husband and after graduation they opened a law practice together in La Conner, Washington.

Attorney Amanda Johnson has an extensive background in law, graduating from Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California. While attending law school she worked with the Orange County Rescue Mission providing legal services to members of society who might not otherwise have access to legal aid. She was also a member of Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, the Public Relations Director for the Student Bar Association, and she attended an International Human Rights Program in France. Candace R. Johnson has significant knowledge of the New Jersey court system. During law school she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Joseph A. Greenaway in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Michael Shipp in the United States District Court of New Jersey. She then went on to clerk in both landlord-tenant court and civil law division with the Honorable Martha T. Royster at the Hudson County Superior Court.
