Richard graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., with a major in finance and accounting in 1987. He waited three years before entering the Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1993. He worked briefly as a clerk in the United States Attorney's Office in Las Vegas and then he joined his father Melvyn Jacoby's firm in 1994. Richard is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the National Consumer Bankruptcy Association.

As a Licensed Nuclear Engineer, Health Physicist, and member of the State Bar of Texas , Mr. Jacobi provides technical assistance to a variety of nuclear and radiological facilities including waste disposal companies, industrial users, uranium miners, transportation companies, oil and gas exploration and production companies, and investment companies who are seeking an expert opinion on the acquisition of nuclear facilities. After graduating from Adelphi College with a major in business administration, Melvyn received his L.L.B from Brooklyn Law School in 1962. He immediately entered private practice in Suffolk County. Melvyn is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the NYS Trial Lawyers Association.
