Be Very Aware Before I hired Vikrant Chaudhry , I obtained a 5 year Restraining Order against a criminal in the neighborhood for throwing rocks at my car while driving my son to school. I had a dash cam video of the attack that speaks for itself. The criminal appealed and lost again. Vik offered, for a small retainer, to file a motion for attorney's fees after appeal, valued at over $15,000. After receiving my payment he started working AGAINST me, skillfully and intentionally! First he tried to convince me that the deadline to file the motion was 60 days but he repeatedly ignored my requests to mention the relevant Rule of Court. When I found out that the deadline was actually 40 days (Rule 8.278(c)(1)), I printed the documents at home and rushed to the Court to file them in person. I saved the filing deadline, but he made sure to serve the documents 2 days late, without showing a good cause. He said everything was "served timely". He then filed his proof of service with the Court almost 2 months later! What I actually showed him outside the Court was the proof of the defendant's perjury, which was included in their own exhibits. He refused to mention that in documents or in Court. He lied to me so many times, that I had to send him copies of his own emails where he contradicted himself. I asked him to file a substitution form to make sure his info is updated in the Register of Actions. Through the end of his misrepresentation his info in ROA was "Not Available". The motion was swiftly denied based solely on his misconduct, late serving with no good cause. The decision had nothing to do with the merits of the case. After the motion was denied he continuously refused to inform me what options I still had, such as: reconsideration, appeal, set aside default, etc. The extent of his deceiving tactics in betraying his client is just mind-boggling and a disgrace to the legal profession. It also suggests I was not his first victim and his misconduct could not be explained as charitable work for a criminal. Would I recommend this fraudster to work AGAINST future clients while showing no respect and no loyalty to them?
