Bridge Builder
NOT AN ATTORNEY
I started with my hometown, Elgin Illinois, police department at 16 years of age as a Police Explorer (Boy Scouts of America). While attending college I worked for EPD as a parking control officer and at 22 was hired as a police officer. I was a police K9 handler for most of my career working with two amazing K9's in that time. I was promoted to Sergeant and was the Internal Compliance Sergeant before being promoted to Lieutenant. I oversee 4 sergeants, 30 patrols officers, and 5 civilian employees.
In 2017 I started a campaign for better interactions with our LGBTQ+ community in the Elgin area. This quickly grew to outreach with other underserved, underrepresented, and historically marginalized groups. My goal is building better partnerships, be an ally, increase awareness and build community partnerships. Some of the groups I work with include the deaf community, persons with Autism and their caregivers, minority religions & cultures, and those who face communication barriers with their local government. As I began retirement and due to the needs, I started a consulting firm, CDO Executives LLC.
CDO Executives is licensed/certified to teach law enforcement officers & government agencies to better interact with the subgroups mentioned above. Additionally, we offer training and policy creation as it relates to de-stigmatizing proactive mental health for law enforcement officers.
I am a member of the American Bar Assoc. and vice chair of their sexual orientation and gender identity subcommittee. I am a board member for the IL LGBT Chamber of Commerce. I'm also a member of the Canadian Bar.
I’m looking to network with fellow change makers. I have no hidden political agenda, other than advocating for human rights and equality. Please feel free to reach out if you too share a passion about reaching out to those who have felt disenfranchised with their local police departments & government. I love partnering with social justice advocates.
