Tommy has successfully brought cases against the Alabama Department of Mental Health, the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR), the Alabama Department of Youth Services, the Alabama Department of Corrections, the Alabama Department of Transportation, the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles and these agency’s employees. The cases Tommy handles often occur in nursing homes, group homes, daycares, mental health facilities, psychiatric wards in hospitals, schools for troubled teens, foster homes, schools and anywhere else where these types of institutional crimes occur.
Tommy has acquired many accolades during his practice, including being a prominent member of significant legal organizations such as the Alabama State Bar , the Alabama Association of Justice, the Alabama State Bar Health and Wellness Task Force and is on the advisory board of the Alabama Family Trust. He recently accepted an invitation to join the state Board of Directors of VOCAL, Victims of Crime and Leniency. VOCAL’s Board primarily consists of law enforcement officials, district attorneys and crime victims. VOCAL is an advocacy group for victims of crime that focuses on reducing crime and improving the rights of crime victims. Tommy is also one of only several Alabama attorneys who is an active member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association, a national organization for lawyers dedicated to helping crime victims and their families seek justice in civil court for money damages. He has successfully litigated dozens of personal injury cases across the State of Alabama, winning his clients over $50,000,000.00 in damages over the years. He is frequently a guest on statewide newscasts as a noted expert in certain fields of personal injury; in the past, he has made appearances on Birmingham and Tuscaloosa’s LawCall TV shows as well as The Attorneys TV show. Tommy is often interviewed about his high-profile cases.
