: Current; Space Systems/Loral, Inc. Loral Space Systems, Inc. v. International Launch Services, Inc. Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services Obtained a favorable settlement of US$18 million on counterclaim for the client in an adversarial proceeding in Bankruptcy Court to seek recovery of deposits.

: Current; International Launch Services (ILS) Space Systems/Loral v. International Launch Services, et al. Successfully argued a motion to transfer on behalf of International Launch Services, defendant in a $37.5 million bankruptcy suit.

: Current; WorldCom Inc. In re WorldCom, Inc. (Embratel Sale Hearing) WGM successfully represented WorldCom Inc. (formerly MCI) within the WorldCom bankruptcy regarding the sale of Embratel, the Brazilian long distance concessionaire to Telmex, the Mexican telephone company. Since WorldCom had made a motion for sale approval while it was still in chapter 11, MCI had to get the Court’s approval for this sale. This representation involved multiple WGM practice groups. In the end, the court, ruled in favor of the sale. more

: Current; MCI, Inc. Sale of Embratel Participações S.A by MCI, Inc. (WorldCom, Inc.) Represented MCI, Inc. (WorldCom, Inc.) in the $400 million sale of its investment in Embratel Participações S.A to Telefonos de Mexico (TELMEX). more

: Current; Securities Investor Protection Corporation In re Stratton Oakmont, Inc. Successfully represented Securities Investor Protection Corporation in litigation concerning remedies under the Securities Investor Protection Act for a brokerage firm's unauthorized transactions.

: Current; E/O Sylvan Lawrence E/O Sylvan Lawrence Weil Gotshal successfully represented the the executor of the estate of Sylvan Lawrence in a breach of fiduciary duty claim in which beneficiaries sought hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. Weil Gotshal defeated beneficiaries' attempt to dissolve the company that manages the estate assets. (Trial still to come on accounting issues.)

: Current; Ingersoll-Rand Morelli v. Garden State Bobcat Represented Ingersoll-Rand in a $60 million product liability suit filed against it, seeking damages for severe personal injuries due to alleged design and manufacturing defects in a Bobcat skid-steer loader. more

: Current; 3M Corporation 3M Silicone Gel Breast Implant Litigation Representing Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. (3M) in numerous actions seeking to hold it responsible for silicone gel breast implants manufactured by McGhan Medical, the company that had purchased 3M’s breast implant business. more

: Current; General Electric Capital Corporation Laverne Bigelow v. GE Capital Mtge. Serv., Inc. Lead Counsel representing General Electric Capital Corporation (GECC) in successful defense of putative nationwide consumer class action. After GECC prevailed on its motion to dismiss, the case was settled for $15,000.
