Since entering private practice, Robert has continued to build on his health care background and experience. Currently represent a wide variety of health care providers around the country in State Medical Board matters, administrative, regulatory, civil and criminal proceedings. I advise physicians, group practices, pain management clinics, home health agencies, hospices, durable medical equipment suppliers, therapy companies and third-party billing companies in government and private payor audits and investigations. Our firm has extensive experience handling overpayment appeals involving UPIC, SRMC and RAC contractors working for CMS. I serve as outside General Counsel for the American Medical Billing Association. Provide assessment and advice to health care corporate clients on proposed business models, addressing both Stark and Federal Anti-Kickback Act concerns.

Subsequently appointed as Chief of the Financial Litigation Unit for the Southern District of Texas. Detailed in 1997 to the Executive Office for United States Attorneys in Washington, DC as its first National Health Care Fraud Coordinator. In this capacity, advised Assistant United States Attorneys around the country on civil and criminal health care fraud statutes, fraud schemes, investigative tools, medical records privacy concerns, and other health care fraud issues.
