Trusted Ally in Landlord-Tenant: Protecting the Investments and Relationships
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be in the legal field fighting for justice. Little did I know my fight would shift from an interest in the FBI to opening a law firm—helping landlords with tenant matters and assisting small business owners in achieving their dreams of success.
I was born in Ukraine, and my family migrated as refugees seeking asylum from the KGP regime in the early 1990s, fleeing to the United States. I grew up in a small town on the Puget Sound in Washington State. I married the love of my life and followed him to Mt. Pleasant, SC. I have been through many adventures and challenges in life, making me a strong and committed lawyer, always striving to improve the lives of others!
I graduated from Charleston School of Law, attending law school while raising four beautiful teenage daughters and running my property management firm. While at Charleston School of Law, I served on the Student Bar Association as a Senator and founded the JD Heavy Weights, a trial competition between faculty and students. I was also a Board member of the CSOL Federal Bar Association and Christian Legal Society. I was an active member of Women in Law, Phi Delta Phi, and Second Amendment Association.
I have been a property manager for over two decades, starting my career by growing and managing an investor portfolio from zero to over 56 properties in 3 years. I coordinated the purchases, renovations, management, and future sales of all properties. In 2013, I launched Family Owned Property Management and began managing many military and investor client properties across the Lowcountry, having experience managing over 500 properties.
After Law School, having experience as both a landlord and a tenant has helped me realize my passion in life is to serve others, and all my mentors have inspired me to give back all that I received growing up. I use my experience in building and managing properties to assist my clients effectively.

- Q. Can the water company make me pay the property owner"s water bill and return check fees before I can get service turn on
- A: Typically if there is an outstanding balance a utility company will ask for proof such as a lease agreement to determine when you took possession and they can demand you pay the portion of the bill that covers the overlap of possession by yourself.
- Q. Facing unauthorized fees and Wi-Fi blocking by new property manager, paid rent in full.
- A: Unfortunately, you would need an attorney to review your lease to determine a landlords right to the fees you describe. Fees generally can be charged retroactively if not voluntarily waived the the PM and it was possible a clerical error. Generally speaking utilities cannot be reduced but there may be usage thresholds that would provide the need/right of the LL. Depending on your lease a PM can potentially take out liability coverage if you do not provide proof, have them listed as additional interest/insured, or have required coverage and charge you for it.
- Q. What can I do about my sister locking me out of the home we verbally agreed to share?
- A: This depends on a number of facts such as whether you established residency there through any utilities and/or license. Also, if you can establish a landlord/tenant relationship based or you were just a permitted guest. Without legal ownership rights your recourse will be wrongful eviction based on whether you were a guest or an actual tenant and the timeframe she would have had to provide for a notice to quit or an eviction. You should speak to an attorney so that further details can determine which course you take.
