
Michael Yuri Hawrylchak
Mike is Of Counsel in O&A’s Health Law practice group. His practice consists primarily of civil litigation with a focus on appellate litigation and brief writing. Mike litigates across a variety of practice areas, including state and federal constitutional law, administrative law, civil rights, antidiscrimination law, insurance law, commercial disputes, personal injury, and criminal defense.
Before joining O’Connell and Aronowitz, Mike was Senior Associate and Deputy General Counsel at a New York City-based firm where his practice was focused on class and collective actions in federal courts. He litigated matters involving labor and employment and product liability and managed litigation and arbitration on behalf of the firm.
Earlier in his career, Mike held associate positions at Capital Region and national law firms, litigating in areas such as securities fraud, antitrust, and patent disputes. Mike was a law clerk for Judge I. Leo Glasser in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York. He also spent a summer during law school working on public interest litigation with the Institute for Justice in Arlington, VA.
Mike earned his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School where he was a Senior Editor on the Journal of Law and Public Policy and served on the Article Submissions Committee for the Journal of Law and Technology. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before entering law school, he worked for five years as a software engineer at several Boston-area startups.
Mike is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Civil Practice Law and Rules, and since 2021 he has been a Trustee of the Guilderland Public Library.
