Melinda Young is a native of Hutchinson, Kansas and a published author. Ms. Young helped to start Bretz Law Offices, LLC in 1997, where she initially worked as a paralegal. Her love of the law, particularly her love of helping injured clients, inspired her to pursue a law degree. Following graduation from law school, she gained additional experience practicing law in Iowa until returning to her hometown of Hutchinson and rejoining the firm. She joined the firm as a partner in 2013 and the firm name was changed to Bretz & Young. Ms. Young currently handles all types of injury claims including auto accidents, wrongful death, nursing home negligence, product liability, premises liability, workers compensation and employment law. She recently obtained the largest judgment in Iowa for an intentional infliction of emotional distress claim arising out of a wrongful termination suit. Ms. Young is licensed in Kansas and Iowa and by the United States District Courts in Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Illinois and Missouri. She is a member of the Kansas Association of Justice and Kansas Women Attorneys Association. She is also a board member for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, a member of Cause for Paws and a former board member for The American Red Cross.
