Biography

Ms. Birge is a founding partner of the firm Garcia & Birge, APC. She has more than 20 years of experience in civil litigation, representing plaintiffs and defendants. Her areas of practice include employment law, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, disability issues, retaliation, contracts, business disputes, fraud, and defamation Ms. Birge is also an experienced appellate lawyer and a trained mediator. She received her Juris Doctor degree in 1995 from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, formerly Western State University College of Law, in San Diego, California. In 2009 she helped develop contracts and goals for the Legacy XXI Institute’s International Social Action Film Festival, and she has authored publications including “Voir Dire and Plaintiff’s Opening Statement,” Chapter 14 in Litigating the Workplace Harassment Case, an American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section publication, edited by Marlene Heyser (First Edition 2010).

Attorney is a highly experienced civil litigator as well as skilled in the field of civil appeals and writs. Litigation practice includes arbitration and administrative courts, and presently focuses primarily on employment law and business disputes. Employment law comprises a wide range of issues including cases involving claims for wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, disability issues, wage and hour laws, contract issues, defamation, and much more. Attorney's past litigation experience also encompasses cases involving property issues, government tort claims, civil rights law, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death claims. Attorney also assists employers by performing pre-litigation negotiations, counseling, and investigations into workplace complaints of illegal conduct.
