Overall poor communication
Lindsey was retained for a legal matter for our family, the first legal matter we have ever been involved in, so we were unaware of processes, hence the reason for retaining legal representation. She seemed extremely nice to begin with, until the full
retainer money was sent to her office, then we couldn’t receive proper legal help.
We had asked a question about a process and we were told to “relax for now”, which I don’t believe is any sort of legal advice nor did it touch on any questions we had asked but, nonetheless, we relaxed. After three weeks of complete silence, I reached out again to see if I could get any sort of update on what I asked previously. I was met with complete silence, again. After over 24 hours with zero update, I sent an email outlining my frustrations with the lack of overall communications from our hired (and paid) law firm. Instead of answering the concerns we had tried to get clarity on for well over a month, she sent an email saying she was terminating us because she didn’t like hearing my frustrations with their severe lack communication. All she had to say to us was that lawyers are busy, insinuating the rest of the population doesn’t hold a job, have families, or have prior commitments that make them busy, too.
Overall, Lindsey was a very condescending lawyer who was unwilling to take care of or address what we paid the firm to do. I wish we hadn’t wasted so much of our time hoping for a better outcome from her, but we tried to give her a chance by brushing off her rude comments, since she is a fairly green lawyer and it wasn’t a complex case. Everyone has bad days so we tried to look beyond her rude comments, but nothing changed, unfortunately.
If she wasn’t responsive because she is not knowledgeable of the law, she should have given us notice instead of leaving our legal concerns unaddressed until we got to the point of frustration and advocating for ourselves. It would have saved her and I both a lot of time by parting ways much sooner.
I hope she is able to grow as an attorney and work on better communication skills that have been laid out, in various reviews from others who have dealt with the same frustrations, to better serve those who hire her. She probably has great potential if she were to take the time to correctly address things, pertaining to law, or at least let her paying clients know she is working on it, received your email, isn’t knowledgeable in that area, etc. Best of luck to her growth as a lawyer in coming years and I hope this review helps by showing her clients really care about the communication they receive from their lawyer and something is much better than nothing.
