Legal Answers
1 Questions Answered
- Q. Are there any circumstances where a jail sentence may be changed or pardoned for serious medical issues
- A: First of all, I only give a concrete "no" answer to only a handful of legal procedures. You just never know what a Judge is going to say or do these days. Regarding pardons, anyone can request a pardon. It is a long and arduous process that has a very low probability of success. It will depend on the crime committed, the extent of the sentencing (1 year vs. 20 years), the alternative means for incarceration (house arrest, GPS monitoring, etc.). Trying to have a sentence modified to account for illness is very unlikely as well. But I never say never and you can try for a motion for early parole with alternative restrictive punishment.
