Knowledgeable, won case; overlook to coast me over $70K
I hired Justin to represent me during my divorce. In the beginning, it was going well as he provided solid counsel and seemed to be very sharp, and all about doing the right thing and representing me in the best fashion possible. The large challenge in
my case, was the custody of my child and doing what was best for her, in conjunction with how the split of the proceeds would go as it related the marital home. As I am not a family law attorney, I expressed what I was willing to agree to, he carried my wished to the opposing lawyer and my now ex-wife and it seemed that everything was agreed to correctly. "MY" understanding of the language, as it was written in the divorce decree, was how it was supposed to go, per my request.
Low and behold, I had to go to another lawyer to get some clarification of my decree, because what I understood the language to read per the decree (which were the steps I was taking) and what I was to do in efforts to obtain proceeds from my home to give to my ex-wife VS what/how the language in legalese read, was VERY different, and it wasn't clear to me what I was missing.
Justin not only refused to go over and explain to me how the language was missed. His oversight of the document is now costing me $70K+ in real estate proceeds.
His failure to provide thorough, legal council and follow-through on something as critical as someone's divorce, has had a huge negative impact on my ability to move forward with an investment such as how proceeds from my home will be divided. I recently asked again for his help and he simply said I will NOT. He won't even grant an apology for missing what should have been caught. But life is life and I have learned a great deal from this experience. One being, never to re-hire nor recommend Justin to anyone for family law services.
