- Julia earned her Bachelors degree in Chemistry at Union College in Schenectady, NY. At Union Julia worked with Professor James Adrian, Jr. on the study of Reformatsky reactions and titanium enolate addition to aldimines. Following graduation, Julia spent a year working as a medicinal chemist conducting target oriented synthesis at Albany Molecular Research in New York. Julia enrolled at Brown University in the fall of 2001 where she conducted her graduate work with Professor William Trenkle. The focus of Julia's doctoral thesis was heterocycle synthesis and rhodium quinonoid catalyzed conjugate addition chemistry. Julia graduated from Brown with her doctorate in 2006.
