Joe Wheat practices in the oil and gas group. Joe is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Joe represents clients in oil, gas and mineral law issues, including the preparation of drilling and division order title opinions. He also has experience in due diligence projects and preparation of acquisition and mortgage title opinions, negotiating and drafting mineral conveyances, oil and gas leases, assignments and right-of-way agreements, and representing working interest owners in receivership proceedings.
Joe earned his B.B.A. in Finance from Sam Houston State University in 1979 and his B.B.A. in Petroleum Land Management from The University of Texas at Austin in 1983. He earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University in 1991. After law school, Joe clerked for the Honorable Joe J. Fisher, United States District Judge, Eastern District of Texas.
