- James’ practice focuses on representing bondholders, corporations, private equity funds, hedge funds, institutional investors, and other interested parties in corporate restructurings, with an emphasis on large chapter 11 cases. Recent and current representative matters include the representation of Holley Performance Products Inc., a high performance automotive parts manufacturer, in the restructuring of $145 million second lien notes into debt and equity through a prepackaged chapter 11 plan in the District of Delaware, and the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Wellman, Inc., a manufacturer of plastic resin, in Wellman, Inc.’s chapter 11 in the Southern District of New York. James also frequently provides advice regarding investments in distressed and potentially distressed companies. Prior to joining Ropes Gray, James assisted with the representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Delta Air Lines, Inc. and the prenegotiated restructuring of Granite Broadcasting Corporation in chapter 11 cases in the Southern District of New York.
