James J. LeBrou, Esq., is an Associate at Tully Rinckey PLLC and concentrates his practice in the area of Estate Planning, Elder Law, Real Estate, and Business Law.
Jim brings valuable experience in estate planning, business law, and civil litigation to Tully Rinckey. Prior to joining Tully Rinckey, Jim was an associate at an area law firm where he was involved in all phases of civil litigation including the preparation of pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trials and appeals. He also handled real estate, estate settlement, traffic violations and corporate establishment matters.
Furthermore, Jim has experience with trusts and estates from his work at The Ayco Company, L.P., a Goldman Sachs Company. At Ayco, Jim supervised a financial counseling service designed to assist individuals who had recently dealt with the death of their spouse or who were terminally ill. Through this service, Jim was significantly involved in working with numerous families affected by the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001. Jim also served as the company’s first Chief Compliance Officer, where he supervised the compliance department and served as the primary contact for regulators (SEC, FINRA) during audits.
Additionally, Jim was the Department Chair of the Paralegal Studies program at Mildred Elley College, where he supervised the Paralegal Studies department faculty, served as an advisor to the students in the Paralegal Studies program, and served as an instructor for paralegal courses. He currently serves on the College’s Advisory Committee and is an adjunct professor there.
Jim graduated cum laude from Union College with a degree in Managerial Economics. He received his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School, where he was on the Moot Court Board and Chairman of the Dominick L. Gabrielli Competition.
Jim is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Trusts and Estates Section of that Association. He also has the Series 7, 9, 10, 24 and 63 securities licenses.
