J. Nathan Cole
Experienced litigator, advocate and bar leader
I represent businesses throughout New England in matters related to business litigation, construction disputes, mechanic’s lien and bond claims, insurance related disputes, E&O claims, contract drafting and negotiation, and a wide range of general litigation, employment, and personal injury cases.
I have extensive trial experience representing construction companies, homeowners, insurance agents, small business owners, and individuals. I enjoy working with clients in all aspects of risk management and using my experience in courtrooms to help keep clients out of them!

- Contractors, architects, and suppliers that experience payment issues have a powerful tool at their disposal: a mechanic’s lien. But with great power, comes great responsibility—and extensive statutory requirements that must be followed to enforce a lien. We will review the Massachusetts Mechanic’s Lien Statute, G.L. c. 254, key notice and filing requirements, deadlines, and other traps for the unwary in this lunch n learn discussion. MassDLA Board Member Nathan Cole will lead this discussion.

He presented on the distinction between the delegation of liability versus responsibility for jobsite safety and how owners and general contractors can effectively delegate the duty for jobsite safety to subcontractors.
- Moderator, Pre-Trial Care and Feeding of Professional Liability Expert Witnesses, Boston
- Boston Bar Association
- The "care and feeding" of your expert witness is one of the most important aspects of your case. Join us for a panel featuring trial lawyers and experts who will speak to the benefit of the early use of experts in professional liability cases. The panel will discuss why you need an expert for professional liability claims, when to retain your expert, what to send her, and how to use your expert before suit is filed to help develop legal theories and defenses, draft key interrogatories and document requests, prepare for non-expert depositions, and best position your case before discovery is complete.
