- Hiro has represented technology companies in various Federal Courts proceedings and handled all aspects of patent litigation; pre-suit investigations, formulating case strategies, discovery, motion practice including summary judgment motions and Markman proceedings, working with expert witnesses, case management, trial preparations, and settlement strategies. He has been a member of trial teams in many patent cases including Orion IP LLC v. Xerox Corp. et al. (E.D. Tex.) (client Ricoh Americas); MediaTek v. Sanyo (E.D. Tex.) (client Sanyo); Sanyo v. MediaTek (C.D. Cal.) (client Sanyo); Guardian v. Sanyo et al. (D. Del.) (client Sanyo); Arnco Corp. v. British Telecom (D. Del.) (client British Telecom); Sherman Reilly v. British Telecom (E. D. Tenn.) (client British Telecom); British Telecom v. SBC Communications et al. (D. Del.) (Client British Telecom); Semitool v. Ebara (D. Ore.) (client Ebara); Texas Instruments v. In addition to his litigation experience, Hiro has extensive licensing experience, having negotiated and closed numerous patent license agreements mainly in the fields of semiconductor and electronics. Prior to joining the firm, Hiro was a staff member and patent attorney in the International Licensing Department at Hitachi, Ltd. Leveraging his broad international experience, Hiro has counseled various U.S., European and Japanese technology firms on cross border patent litigation and licensing projects. Hiro has worked with various local patent trial lawyers in cross border patent cases including Japanese, Korean, Dutch, U.K., and German patent trial lawyers. Hiro also assists clients to formulate multi-jurisdictional licensing and enforcement strategies, closely working with patent trial lawyers from different jurisdictions involved.
