Apple Inc. Apple Computer, Inc. v. Burst.com, Inc. Representing Apple in a major patent infringement suit against Burst.com involving the iPod and the iTunes store, Weil Gotshal obtained summary judgments invalidating certain of Burst’s patent claims that purported to cover “faster-than-real-time” transmission. Doing so virtually gutted Burst’s case. This resulted in a settlement for far less than previous settlements obtained by Burst in similar litigations against leading technology companies.

Obtained a favorable settlement for Excite @Home in a series of multi-billion dollar breach of fiduciary duty and securities lawsuits against AT&T, Cox, Comcast and others arising from their role as controlling shareholders in the first company to provide high-speed internet access via cable modem. more

Undisclosed Death Penalty Appeal Working with General Electric’s general counsel, Weil Gotshal is pursuing habeas corpus relief from the death penalty sentence of our client who was convicted of capital murder and two additional counts of murder in 1995 in DeSoto County, Mississippi.
