Elsie Gonzalez was born in 1980 in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. Ms. Gonzalez obtained her Bachelor of Arts from New Jersey City University in 2008 and obtained her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2013.
Ms. Gonzalez gained experience in family law by clerking for the Honorable Lisa P. Thornton, A.J.S.C., (then presiding judge of the family part) in the Monmouth Vicinage. Additionally, she interned for the Honorable Alberto Rivas, J.S.C. in the family part of the Middlesex Vicinage, and she represented clients in the Family Law Clinic at Seton Hall University School of Law. Ms. Gonzalez is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey. Ms. Valera is a contributing author on the Institute of Continuing Legal Education's yearly publication.
