Elizabeth Bourdon
Assistant Public Defender, Orange CountyI am a board certified criminal trial attorney with over 11 years experience in criminal law. I have had approximately 60 jury trials, ranging from misdemeanor petit theft and DUI cases to felony cases such as robbery with a firearm, carjacking with a firearm, home invasion robbery, sexual battery/capital sexual battery, and first/second degree murder cases. I was an Assistant Public Defender for 9.5 years and left for 2 years for private practice. I have recently returned to the Public Defender's office in Orlando, Florida, representing those who cannot afford an attorney. All clients are appointed to me based upon the criminal division the case is assigned to, and the charge(s) the client faces.

- Q. Hey im here to ask what should i do in getting accused of rape its false i never would do anything like that help please
- A: Hire an attorney immediately.
- Q. If I have a warrant out and I want to turn myself in would that violate my current probation
- A: If the crime was allegedly committed before you went on probation, it will not violate your current probation. However, you should be aware that many times it takes a little bit of time to make it clear to everyone that you weren't yet on probation when the crime allegedly occurred.
- Q. When will I be contacted if someone is pressing charges against me?
- A: The State decides whether to file a criminal charge. You might not be contacted until you are served with an arrest warrant or a notice to appear in court. There's really not enough information for me to be able to answer your question. There are statute of limitations for crimes that come into play that would limit the amount of time the State has to bring a formal charge against you; you may want to consult with a criminal defense attorney in your area. Most criminal defense attorneys do free initial consultations.
